Section policies

Revista Mexicana de Urología has the following sections:

Original articles

Contributions received for possible publication in this section must be original research results of high-level academic work, addressing the journal’s thematic areas of interest. All the manuscripts sent to this section must accredit a rigorous peer review process, under the double-blind modality. For this section the authors must observe the correct submission of the following over the OJS manager:

  1. Front page as an independent file;
  2. An abstract following the structure requirements for original articles;
  3. Keywords;
  4. Body of text following the structure requirements for original articles (for further information on submission requirements, see Guidelines for authors).

Clinical cases

Studies produced on the basis of specialized observations related to the attention to a clinical case which usually involves an infrequent, emergent, re-emergent nosologic entity or one that appears atypically. Also, unseen effects of a diagnosis or therapeutic method that will be useful or relevant in the medical, academic and scientific sphere can be reported. All texts intended for this section must accredit a rigorous peer review process, under the double blind modality. For this section the authors must observe the correct submission of the following over the OJS manager:

  1. Front page as an independent file;
  2. An abstract following the structure requirements for clinical cases;
  3. Keywords;
  4. Body of text following the structure requirements for clinical cases (for further information on submission requirements, see Guidelines for authors).

Review articles

It is a detailed, selective and critical study that integrates the most relevant information on a specific topic. Its purpose is to examine the published bibliography and locate it within an analytical perspective. All texts intended for this section must accredit a rigorous peer review process, under the double blind modality. For this section the authors must observe the correct submission of the following over the OJS manager:

  1. Front page as an independent file;
  2. An abstract following the structure requirements for review articles;
  3. Keywords;
  4. Body of text following the structure requirements for review articles (for further information on submission requirements, see Guidelines for authors).

Brief communications

Focused on a single topic and refer to articles with preliminary data. They must be concise and expose a new perspective on the topic. Texts intended for this section will be reviewed and approved by the editor. For this section, authors must observe the correct submission of the following over the OJS manager:

  1. Front page as an independent file;
  2. An abstract following the structure requirements for brief communications;
  3. Keywords;
  4. Body of text following the structure requirements for brief communications (for further information on submission requirements, see Guidelines for authors).

Letters to the editor

Written as responses to any content previously published in RMU, their publication will be at the editor’s discretion.

How I do it? Advice from an Expert

In this section, only submissions by invitation of the editors of the Revista Mexicana de Urología (RMU) will be considered. This section will be written in English and will include papers that describe top-quality surgical techniques. The author(s) may show innovations and/or the application of new technologies. Papers must describe: 1) the detailed technique, 2) current trends of the procedure, 3) future expectations and 4) drawbacks and/or limitations. This section is meant to be illustrative, therefore, all papers must include representative pictures and flowcharts explaining the procedure ste by step. Up to 6 pictures will be accepted. Manuscript and images for this section will undergo a strict editorial process. The authors must correctly send the following documents using the OJS software of the Revista Mexicana de Urología:

  1. Cover page with authors affiliation/information as a separate file.
  2. A structured abstract based on the requirements stated in the section “How I do it? Advice from an Expert”.
  3. Key words according to MeSH vocabulary (3 - 6)
  4. Body of the manuscript structured based on the requirements stated in the section “How I do it? Advice from an Expert” (For more information about postulation requirements in this section, review “Guidelines for authors”).

Editorial comment

In this section, only submissions by invitation of the editors of the Revista Mexicana de Urología (RMU) will be considered. This section will include critical and comprehensive analysis of a papers published by the RMU. Editorial Comments are meant to be written by an expert or group of experts in the field and to be published jointly with the commented paper. The authors must consider sending the following information correctly using the the OJS software:

  1. Body of the article with no more than 1000 words.
  2. Author limit: 2.
