Migration of the intrauterine device to the bladder, associated with a tumor and bladder lithiasis: about a case

Intrauterine devices are widely used contraceptives due to their simplicity, low cost and effectiveness. Among its complications, it rarely migrates to the bladder, predisposing to the formation of stones and bladder tumors.
Clinical case: 47-year-old woman. With disease time of ± 12 years characterized by dysuria, pollakiuria, and recurrent urinary tract infections that progressively increased. Urotomography evaluation revealed a stone and bladder tumor. During the laser treatment of the bladder stone, a foreign body compatible with an intrauterine device was found, which was removed. In addition, the pathological result of the bladder tumor showed a carcinoma with squamous differentiation, for which a radical cystectomy plus urinary diversion was performed. Our clinical case shows a rare case of migration of an intrauterine device into the bladder, which could be associated with stone formation and bladder tumor.
