Terapia cognitivo conductual para calidad de vida en pacientes con cáncer de próstata, una revisión narrativa de la literatura

Introducción: el cáncer de próstata (CaP) tiene alta incidencia a nivel mundial, genera diversas alteraciones en los pacientes, por ello es importante evaluar si la terapia cognitivo conductual (TCC) puede resultar efectiva para mejorar su calidad de vida (CaV).
Objetivo: conocer los efectos de la TCC sobre la CaV en pacientes con cáncer de próstata.
Métodos: se revisaron las bases de datos Medline, APA PsycInfo, Web of Science y Biblioteca Cochrane, mediante la metodología PIO, se utilizaron términos MESH, text words y booleanos para realizar los cruces, del año 2000 a 2020.
Resultados: se identificaron 800 artículos de los cuales se analizaron los resultados de 11 publicaciones con texto completo en los que se evidenció la aplicación de la TCC. Se encontró que tiene efectos positivos en la CaV; además se identificó la modalidad, las variables evaluadas y las técnicas empleadas en el tratamiento.
Conclusiones: La evidencia disponible sugiere que es necesario extender el empleo de la TCC para mejorar la CaV de los pacientes con CaP, además de desarrollar estas investigaciones en otras poblaciones, por ejemplo, pacientes latinoamericanos.
