Disfunción eréctil e infecciones virales: una revisión narrativa

Descripción del tema: La disfunción eréctil es una condición prevalente en la población masculina, puede ser el resultado de un problema de carácter hormonal, metabólico, resultado de procesos infecciosos, o anatómicos. Las infecciones por el virus de inunodeficiencia adquirida (VIH), virus del herpes simple, zóster, virus del papiloma humano (VPH), virus linfotrópico humano tipo I (VHTL1), dengue y SARS-CoV2 se relacionan con disfunción eréctil por diferentes mecanismos fisiopatológicos. En la mayoría de los casos resultado de la interacción con el sistema inmunológico, lo cual conduce al desarrollo de una respuesta inflamatoria local o generalizada de variada intensidad.
Relevancia: Algunas infecciones por virus pueden afectar directamente los tejidos del sistema reproductor masculino y causar disfunción eréctil, debido a que estos pueden dañar los nervios y los vasos sanguíneos necesarios para lograr y mantener una erección.
Conclusión: La disfunción eréctil es de origen multifactorial, y de acuerdo con la literatura revisada puede ser desencadenada por algunas seculeas vasculares inducidas por infecciones virales, incluidas las producidas por el virus de la inmunodeficiencia adquirida (VIH), virus del herpes simple, zóster, virus del papiloma humano (VPH), virus linfotrópico humano tipo I (VHTL1), dengue y SARS-CoV2.
