The first year of the 2017-2019 term of the current board of directors is coming to an end, and, as is usual, every change brings about a renewal of energies, enthusiasm flourishes, and projects are created to strengthen and perfect our goals, as well as to plan new ones, all for the same shared purpose: to better fulfill the expectations the members have for our Sociedad Mexicana de Urología and to validate those results with the rest of the medical community through the content of our official journal.
As the years go by, the challenge for each board of directors becomes greater, given the increase in the number of urologists and the emergence of concerns resulting from inertia in relation to the advances in knowledge and new techniques for practicing our specialty. That situation makes it necessary for each member of the board to project his or her experience, actively collaborating and defining their functions, so that the acquired responsibilities can be carried out more easily and each of the objectives brought to fruition.
The achievements of this first year under the presidency of Dr. Alfredo Medina Ocampo have been the result of his leadership in the areas of coordination, convocation, and performance. He has provided an atmosphere of cordiality for our collaborative efforts, in which administrative responsibility and respectful interpersonal relations have thrived. Those accomplishments were presented in full at the plenary session of our LXIX Congreso Nacional de Urología, which took place in León, Guanajuato, from the 8th to the 12th of November 2018. The great interest demonstrated by both the members and sponsors confirmed our Society’s capacity and participation, and the success of the Congress surpassed all expectations.
In this second year of the present board’s term, the motivation to continue our joint effort is strong. Our goal is to surpass the achievements made, guided by a vision to obtain better results in the national and international arena on the part of the Sociedad Mexicana de Urología, the outcome of which will shape our Congress in the city of Merida in 2019.
Let us continue strengthening that joint effort to achieve success for the good of Mexican urology…
